Europe´s northernmost and southernmost cultures unite at a unique event filled with the passion of flamenco, warmth of Sámi culture and the heat of reindeer race - Poro Feria Sprint!
 

History

The name of the event comes from spanish Feria tradition that includes cattle market, flamenco and feast. Poro Feria consists of Poro Feria Sprint, Feria market and performances from flamenco dance to sámi costume fashion show, yoik and reindeer ride. Market merchants sell high-class products from northern Finland and Sámi area: handicrafts, jewellery and reindeer meat.
   
 

Organizers

The event is a co-operation of Oulun Liikekeskus ry, Giellagas institute, Kalevan Poronkieppi and flamenco assosiation Palo Nuevo and flamenco dancers in Oulu. The event aims to make northern Sámi and southern flamenco culture more acknowledged in a combination at Oulu region. Poro Feria is a part of an EU-project "International events of Oulu City Centre" financed by Council of Oulu Region City of Oulu and Oulu City Centre Association.
